Outreach Activities

This section highlights activities and programs I have been a part of outside of the classroom, both on and off Clemson’s campus. These extracurricular experiences have allowed me to pursue my passions and express myself in different ways. Through them, I have met many new people and gained exposure to new perspectives and ideas, which have contributed to my development as a well-rounded individual.

Davidson University Philosophy Conference Participant

Presented a comparative religious study on Catholicism and Buddhism, demonstrating authentic philosophical insights developed through extensive coursework in Buddhist studies under the mentorship of Yanming An (安老师). It was amazing practice for public speaking, as well as demonstrating my ability to present my complex ideas in a clear and thorough way.

Conversation Pairs Ambassador

I was paired with native Chinese-speaking students and challenged to engage in cultural exchange using both English and Chinese. This experience allowed me to practice my Chinese while helping others improve their English, making it a truly rewarding experience.

Clemson Intramural Sports

I have played intramural basketball at Clemson since my freshman year. This experience has been a great way to bond with old friends, make new ones, and reconnect with the sport I love. We practiced once a week and held regular team meetings. Being part of this team added structure to my schedule and encouraged me to stay active.

Clemson Sailing Club

I joined the Clemson Sailing Club at the beginning of my sophomore year, and it has been the most formative experience of my college career. I joined without knowing anyone or how to sail; now, these people are some of my closest friends, and I have the opportunity to spend as much time on the water as I want. I will forever be grateful to this club and all of the people that I have met through it.

The Blue Heron

I have been a Blue Heron employee for almost two years. I started as a waitress and was quickly moved to a bartender. I work 3-4 shifts per week which has contributed to my time management and prioritization skills. To add, I've been able to meet a lot of amazing people unrelated to Clemson and the Clemson community, which has provided me with many new perspectives and friends.

Kite Hill Run Club

I joined the run club last August. I used to run and wanted to get back into it. This club provided me with an environment that encouraged me to push myself and as a result I can run 3 miles again. This club has been an amazing activity for me outside of the classroom. I can decompress from my days and move my body at the same time. A great destresser!
